LACoFD recognize team members for Women’s History Month

In honor of Women’s History Month, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) have recognized their female team members, whose contributions serve as a reminder of the vital role women serve in shaping communities, whether during a crisis or everyday life.

International Women’s Day Luncheon

Fire Captain Sheila Kelliher-Berkoh and Community Services Liaison (CSL) Megan Currier were recognized at the 2nd Annual International Women’s Day Luncheon on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The Las Virgenes Water District, Cities of Agoura Hills and Calabasas honored local female leaders during the luncheon.

Among those honored were Captain Kelliher-Berkoh, CSL Currier and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sergeant Sanchez for their exceptional response, leadership, courage, community advocacy and collaborative efforts while assigned to the Palisades wildfire in January 2025.

Chief Kelliher-Berkoh and CSL Currier’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of leaders, ensuring women’s history is celebrated and not just remembered.

Los Angeles Clippers basketball game

Two County of Los Angeles Fire Department first responders were honored at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game at the Intuit Dome on Friday, March 7, 2025, celebrating Women’s History Month.

Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Devina Reynolds and Fire Fighter (FF) Ashlee Desire were honored for their bravery, dedication and commitment to serving the community. The crowd applauded and cheered as the announcer spotlighted the first responders during the halftime recognition.

FFPM Reynolds has worked for the Department for five years, she said: “I presently and proudly serve the City of Inglewood.”

FF Desire proudly serves her hometown as a hazmat specialist for the Department, sharing: “As a single mom to my 11-year-old son, I have learned to balance a demanding career and family, as I remain an advocate for more women in the fire service.”
