The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) has spotlighted the efforts of the Los Angeles County Asian Pacific Islander (LACAPI) Association.
According to the LACoFD, the LACAPI Association is a driving force in promoting diversity and inclusion through education, training and awareness.
The LACAPI is led by Deputy Fire Chief Albert Yanagisawa, President and Assistant Fire Chief Khoi Dao, Vice President.
Since its inception in 2023, the API Association has grown to a community of team members who contribute to providing language access services, scholarship programs for aspiring firefighters to help decrease financial barriers, grants and donations to sustain mentorship programs, leadership training and recruitment.
LACAPI President, Chief Yanagisawa shared: “The County of Los Angeles Fire Department Asian Pacific Islander Association is committed to building pathways for the next generation of firefighters and professional staff, strengthening connections with our communities and fostering a culture of inclusion across the Department.
“Through recruitment, scholarships, mentorship and partnerships with County and City leaders, we are creating opportunities that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
“Our efforts not only enhance our workforce, but also ensure that we continue to provide the highest level of service to the public.”
