The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) has revealed that Aaron D. Katon will be joining the departments Communications Division.
Effective from the 1 February 2026, Katon will be the Fire Captain assigned to lead the Public Information Office/ Special Events Section.
With 18 years of fire service experience, including 10 years with the LACoFD, Captain Katon brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.
A University of California, Berkeley graduate, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, Captain Katon was the LACoFD’s 141st Recruit Academy Valedictorian and spent the next decade promoting through the ranks from firefighter to firefighter specialist and Fire Captain.
Captain Katon said of his new role: “It’s an incredible honor to be selected as the LACoFD’s Public Information Officer.
“Anyone who’s worked around me knows how passionate I am about this profession in general and our Department in particular.
“I’m excited to be a part of our excellent team in the Communications Division and to tell the story of the LACoFD to the public we serve.”
