The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captain Celina Serrano and K9 Prentiss, Fire Firefighter Paramedic Jonathan Munguia and K9 Clifford, along with Search Team Manager Fire Captain Michael Devine returned home on Sunday 27 July, following an 18-day deployment to Texas.
The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) activated the LACoFD canine teams on Tuesday 8 July 2025, to assist in search and recovery efforts following the flooding that impacted central Texas.
County of Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone said: “All canine teams and first responders are to be commended for their steadfast commitment in assisting with the search and recovery efforts in central Texas.
“We continue to stand alongside the residents and communities impacted by the devastating flooding and pray for continued strength and resilience.”
The canine teams joined fellow California teams from Oakland, Sacramento, Menlo Park, Orange County and Riverside County to assist with emergency operations in and around the hardest hit areas of flooding.
