KiddeFenwal has introduced the AEGIS-PHX Conventional Control Unit, also known as “Phoenix,” under its Kidde Fire Systems brand.
This new control unit is an advanced version of KiddeFenwal’s AEGIS fire suppression control unit, tailored for special hazard fire suppression systems.
The Phoenix is designed for use with gaseous, chemical, and water-based fire suppression agents.
It features a 1,000-event history log, real-time clock, programmable Input-Output circuits, and enhanced diagnostics.
The unit is intended to improve both installation and operational ease for technicians and operators by including pre-defined configurations for clean agent systems and low-pressure CO2 systems.
The Phoenix is built to work seamlessly with current and legacy fire sensors and suppression systems from Kidde Fire Systems, Fenwal Protection Systems, and Chemetron Fire Systems.
Its design supports water-mist and sprinkler solenoid releases, allowing for compatibility with various fire suppression agents.
The control unit is also equipped for “Plug-and-Play” retrofitting into existing AEGIS installations.
This feature ensures ease of installation with a short learning curve, making it a cost-effective solution for facilities with space or budget constraints.
Additionally, an enclosure option with door-mounted controls further reduces installation costs while maintaining code compliance.
The Phoenix incorporates triple redundancy (Triple-R) safeguards to reduce the risk of unintended suppression system activation.
Its updated user interface includes a 4×40 LCD screen, along with advanced diagnostics and configuration utilities.
The product is specifically designed to offer greater control and flexibility to operators while maintaining high standards of reliability.
CEO of KiddeFenwal, Rachid Ouenniche, stated: “This exciting new Phoenix offering exemplifies KiddeFenwal’s enduring commitment to product innovation and our laser-like focus on the experience of technicians, operators, and end users.”
In July 2024, KiddeFenwal was acquired by Pacific Avenue Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on middle-market businesses.
The acquisition has positioned KiddeFenwal for growth and expansion in the fire suppression and safety market, both in the U.S. and globally.
Ouenniche remarked on the company’s future plans: “We look forward to bringing to market many more highly integrated, competitively priced, customer-supported fire suppression and safety controls that set the industry pace.”
KiddeFenwal anticipates that the Phoenix will be available for shipping by early November 2024.
The company has already received positive feedback from distributors and testers, such as Colorado-based XDS Fire, which said: “it exceeds almost all expectations.”
