Kidde and Ring have announced a partnership to introduce a new collection of Smart Smoke and Combination Alarms (Smoke + CO) with built-in Ring technology.
According to Kidde, the alarms allow customers to receive real-time smoke and carbon monoxide alerts through the Ring app.
Customers can also opt into a subscription service, Ring 24/7 Smoke & CO Monitoring, for $5 per month.
This service connects users to trained agents who can request emergency assistance and notify designated emergency contacts when an alarm is triggered.
The alarms were showcased at CES 2025 ahead of their official release in the United States this spring.
Kidde states that the new alarms use enhanced sensing technology, detecting smoke 25% faster and with up to three times greater precision.
The technology also aims to reduce false alarms caused by cooking, which can lead people to disable their alarms, increasing fire risks.
Additionally, the alarms provide advance warnings for low battery levels through the Ring app, giving users approximately seven days to replace batteries before the device starts chirping.
Isis Wu, President of Global Residential Fire & Safety at Kidde, said: “For over 100 years, Kidde has made it our mission to deliver home fire and carbon monoxide safety solutions that meet evolving consumer needs.
“Our partnership with Ring is a continuation of that commitment in a seamless and integrated way that provides an extra layer of smart home protection, as well as convenience at your fingertips, to help keep families safer.”
Charlie French, Director of Emerging Products at Ring, said: “At Ring, we are making it easy for people to stay close to the things that matter most to them, and safety of their homes and loved ones is chief among that.
“We’re ecstatic to bring Ring to a new part of the house, giving customers more control of such critical safety products and enabling them to protect their home no matter where they are.”
Kidde’s Smart Smoke and Combination (Smoke + CO) Alarms with Ring technology will be available in April 2025, exclusively at The Home Depot and HomeDepot.com, with additional retail partners expected later in the year.
The products were previewed at CES 2025, where Kidde and Ring showcased the new alarms.
