In a recent address, Jim Pauley, President of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), shed light on the organization’s strategic decision to establish NFPA Global Solutions.
This move, according to Pauley, is a response to the growing global challenges in fire, life, and electrical safety, exemplified by events such as wildfires, lithium-ion battery fires, and building catastrophes.
“If you watch any daily news source, you will see today’s fire, life, and electrical safety challenges on full display around the world,” Pauley stated, emphasizing the necessity for enhanced solutions to these pressing issues.
For over a century, NFPA has been at the forefront of advocating for the elimination of death, injury, property, and economic loss due to fire, electrical, and related hazards.
The creation of NFPA Global Solutions under the NFPA umbrella signifies a pivotal expansion of the organization’s commitment to its life and property-saving mission.
NFPA Global Solutions aims to extend the NFPA’s influence through the introduction of compliance solutions, digital products, and advisory services that surpass the organization’s traditional offerings.
This initiative will leverage both acquisition and the organic creation of businesses, enabling NFPA to undertake activities beyond its non-profit capabilities.
“Through this growth, NFPA can more aggressively pursue its mission and support others who do this important work to advance safety across the globe,” Pauley noted.
The company’s focus will encompass testing, inspection, and certification services, digital products to aid NFPA customers and stakeholders, and advisory services to assist governments and companies in implementing the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem™.
Pauley highlighted the aim of NFPA Global Solutions to offer a more comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of the safety community worldwide.
Within NFPA Global Solutions, NFPA Global Advisors emerges as a new business dedicated to providing governments and businesses around the world with advisory services related to the implementation of the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem.
This initiative aims to assist in the use of codes and standards, establish regulatory and compliance practices, map digital systems for improved compliance, and address new and emerging risks.
“NFPA Global Advisors can help governments and companies to: Understand and address new and emerging risks through the lens of the NFPA Fire & Life Ecosystem,” Pauley elaborated.
Pauley reassured that the addition of NFPA Global Solutions does not alter any of NFPA’s current activities, including standards development, publications, training, and advocacy, which will continue under the non-profit 501(c)(3) operation.
Expressing confidence in the impact of this expansion, Pauley invited stakeholders to learn more about NFPA Global Solutions and its potential to advance global safety.
