Jackson Rancheria donation enhances fire safety in Amador County

Jackson Rancheria has donated $989,393 to the Amador Fire Protection District, facilitating the replacement of an aging fire engine with a Rosenbauer Viper Aerial Apparatus.

The new equipment, equipped with a 65-foot aerial ladder and other advanced firefighting tools, will improve fire protection for the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort and the wider Amador County community.

Engine 5368, a 2007 Type I fire engine, had been serving the community for nearly 20 years.

Due to the difficulty in sourcing replacement parts and the need for extensive maintenance, the decision was made to upgrade to a modern aerial apparatus to meet the area’s fire safety needs, as reported by Jackson Rancheria.

New Rosenbauer Viper Aerial Apparatus enhances firefighting capabilities

The newly purchased Rosenbauer Viper Aerial Apparatus includes a 65-foot aerial ladder and a full set of ground ladders, which are vital for protecting multi-story structures such as hotels and commercial buildings.

This apparatus, known as a “quint,” combines an aerial ladder, a fire hose, and a pump, enabling a fire flow of 1,500 gallons per minute.

This state-of-the-art equipment will not only serve the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort but also be available for emergency responses throughout Amador County.

Fire Chief Robert Withrow said: “This new addition to our fleet will greatly enhance our capacity to respond to emergencies across the district.”

Community-wide support through Jackson Rancheria funding

The Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is operated by the Jackson Band of Miwuk Indians, who fully fund Fire Station 116, a station run by the Amador Fire Protection District.

The station is located on the tribe’s reservation but supports emergency response efforts throughout the broader community, ensuring rapid assistance beyond tribal lands.

Adam Dalton, Chairman of the Jackson Band of Miwuk Indians, expressed his gratitude for the fire crews: “We are deeply appreciative of the dedication of our amazing fire crews who ensure the safety of our community.

“We are honored to continue supporting the efforts of the Amador Fire Protection District.”

Long-term investment in community safety

The new aerial apparatus is the only full-time career-staffed aerial fire truck in Amador County.

It will play a critical role in responding to fire emergencies, particularly in multi-story buildings and complex fire situations.

By equipping the Amador Fire Protection District with this advanced tool, Jackson Rancheria is making a long-term investment in the safety of both the reservation and the surrounding areas.

Crystal Jack, CEO of Jackson Rancheria, highlighted the importance of the new truck: “Jackson Rancheria recognizes the importance of ensuring that our emergency response teams have the best equipment available to protect both our community and the greater Amador County.”
