As reported by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), nominations for the role of Vice Leader of the International General Assembly (IGA) are now open.
The IGA consists of representatives from various IFE branches and groups worldwide, gathering to discuss and collaborate on fire-related issues.
These discussions contribute to global fire safety initiatives.
The Vice Leader role is significant within the IGA’s leadership structure.
The elected Vice Leader will work closely with the IGA Leader and the Membership and Registration Committee.
Upon completing the Vice Leader term, the individual will transition into the IGA Leader role.
The newly approved Terms of Reference (ToR) for the IGA Leadership, introduced in 2024, include expanded eligibility requirements.
All graded members of the IFE, except for Student and Affiliate members, can now be nominated for the Vice Leader position, provided they have the support of an IGA member.
The new ToR also extends the leadership term from one year to two years.
Therefore, the Vice Leader will serve for a total of four years: two years as Vice Leader and two years as IGA Leader.
The Nominations Committee will review all submitted nominations, advising the Board of Trustee Directors and IGA Leaders on the suitability of candidates.
In the event of multiple nominations being recommended, a ballot will take place among IGA members to elect the next Vice Leader.
Nomination forms and additional eligibility criteria are available through the IFE, and interested members are encouraged to consult their local branch council for further information on IGA representation.
Nominations and all supporting documentation must be submitted via email to the IFE by 12noon BST on Monday 30 September 2024.
Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted, as per the IFE’s guidelines.
