The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has introduced a legislative scorecard to track how federal lawmakers in the United States vote on key policies affecting firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
The tool, developed by IAFF’s Government Affairs division, provides members with a detailed view of legislation the union is monitoring.
It also outlines whether IAFF supports or opposes specific bills and documents how each legislator voted when measures reached the House or Senate floor.
IAFF General President Edward A. Kelly said: “With the launch of our new legislative scorecard, our members can now see who truly supports us on Capitol Hill – not just with their rhetoric but with their votes.”
Members of Congress are assigned an A-F letter grade based on their voting records on IAFF legislative priorities.
These include issues such as collective bargaining rights, pension protections, health and safety legislation, and broader measures like the Social Security Fairness Act.
IAFF members can look up scores by entering an address into the search bar at the top of the scorecard.
The tool also allows searches by lawmaker name, political party, congressional chamber, or state.
As new bills are introduced in the 119th Congress, IAFF will continue to update the scorecard.
This ensures that members have access to the latest information on how their elected representatives vote on key firefighter-related legislation.
Kelly said: “Our scorecard will give IAFF members the information they need to walk into their meetings with elected officials fully prepared, knowing where politicians had our backs and where they came up short.”
