IAFC’s mentoring program overview

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is hosting a mentoring program titled “Helping Members Find Their Spark Through Mentoring.”

This program is designed to assist departments in developing and maintaining successful mentorship initiatives.

Participants are required to complete a preliminary four-hour online course before attending the two-day, instructor-led session.

The in-person course emphasizes interactive learning, including group discussions, small group activities, and scenario-based exercises.

Course objectives and benefits

The program helps participants assess their department’s need for a mentoring program and provides guidance on establishing one.

Key topics include selecting and training mentors, matching new members with suitable mentors, troubleshooting challenges, and ensuring program sustainability.

Attendees will gain practical tools and strategies to implement and elevate mentorship within their organizations.

The course will be held at five locations across the United States:

  • Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania: February 1–2
  • Perrysburg, Ohio: February 15–16
  • Vincennes, Indiana: March 1–2

Enrollment, travel reimbursement, and attendance policy
