Helitak chosen by KAI to design systems for helicopter fleet

Helitak Fire Fighting Equipment, a provider of aerial firefighting solutions, has announced it has been selected by Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) to design and manufacture state-of-the-art spray and firefighting systems for KAI’s KUH-1 Surion helicopter fleet.

Systems for the helicopter fleet

Under this partnership, Helitak has developed and recently installed fixed belly tank aerial spray systems on helicopters operated by the Korean Forestry Department.

These specially designed systems are designed to allow the aircraft to perform both advanced aerial spraying and firefighting missions, enhancing Korea’s overall emergency response capabilities.

A key component of this collaboration includes a fixed belly tank aerial spray system as well as a 3,000-liter firefighting system, both designed for integration with the KUH-1 Surion helicopter.

The first round of systems were installed by Helitak at the headquarters of the Korean Forestry Department, further demonstrating the ongoing international cooperation between Helitak and KAI.

Initial deliveries of these new systems are scheduled for early 2025, with continued deliveries planned through 2027.

This initiative follows Helitak’s earlier announcement this year regarding contracts to supply multiple world-leading belly tank systems for the KUH-1 helicopter.
