Gear Wash has expanded its national PPE care and maintenance network with the acquisition of TurnoutManagement and TurnoutRental, a Detroit-area operation serving fire departments and fire academies across the Midwest.
The deal brings Gear Wash to 16 locations nationwide, including 15 facilities and one mobile unit, and strengthens the company’s presence in Michigan and the surrounding region.
Gear Wash, a fully verified Independent Service Provider (ISP) specializing in PPE care and maintenance, said the acquisition will give more departments local access to cleaning, advanced inspection, repair, and rental services.
“Each addition to our network is guided by the same goal: helping fire departments get the PPE care they need with less downtime and greater confidence,” said Taylor Burke Gilman, President of Gear Wash. “Extending our presence into Detroit gives more departments access to NFPA 1850-compliant care and the full support of the industry’s largest Independent Service Provider.”
The Detroit-area site will also operate as a regional rental hub, supplying temporary PPE for training, fire academies, new hires, and departments waiting for gear to return from service or for custom gear to be delivered.
According to Gear Wash, the expanded network is designed to help firefighters remain protected and operational while reducing downtime linked to PPE cleaning, inspection, repair, and replacement cycles.
