Firefighters in Ábrego, Colombia, have controlled and extinguished a forest fire that affected vegetation in the Oropoma and El Arado villages of Norte de Santander.
The National Fire Department of Colombia said the Ábrego Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident after receiving a request for support from the municipal administration.
Three firefighting units and a Pantera-type rapid intervention vehicle were deployed to the scene to carry out control and mitigation work.
Crews worked to contain the blaze, extinguish active flames and eliminate hotspots, preventing the forest fire from spreading to additional areas of vegetation.
According to the operational report, the fire affected approximately 45 hectares. The incident was declared fully extinguished once operations concluded, and no injuries were reported.
The National Fire Department recognized the commitment, rapid response and coordinated work of the Ábrego Volunteer Fire Department, saying its actions helped protect natural resources and community safety.
The agency also urged residents to help prevent vegetation fires, avoid open burning and immediately report any signs of fire to emergency services or their local fire department.
