FirstNet has announced the 2025 Vision FirstNet Users Summit, scheduled for September 8–11 in Indianapolis, as reported by FirstNet.
The event will take place at the Westin Indianapolis and is open to public safety professionals, government officials, and the media.
According to FirstNet, the summit will include interactive workshops, product demonstrations, and expert-led sessions on communication tools and technology designed specifically for first responders.
Topics will include artificial intelligence, mission-critical applications, and new developments in operational support systems.
The event aims to facilitate engagement between public safety agencies and technology developers.
FirstNet stated that the summit will conclude on September 11 with a keynote address from retired NYPD Deputy Chief Charles Dowd.
The final session will reflect on the origin of FirstNet and its connection to the events of September 11, 2001.
The organization said this segment will honor those involved in the early development of the network and its ongoing role in emergency communication.
Dowd’s remarks will focus on how communications failures during 9/11 informed the creation of FirstNet.
The closing ceremony will serve as a tribute to first responders and a reminder of the need for reliable communication infrastructure.
Speakers listed for the event include FirstNet President Scott Agnew and Orange County Fire Authority Chief Brian Fennessy.
Also on the agenda are Thomas Chenworth and John A. Donnelly Sr. from the Washington, D.C. Fire and EMS Department.
FirstNet’s Ryan Fields-Spack will present on responder wellness, a topic the organization has linked to technology integration.
Other participants include Al H. Gillespie from the Public Safety Broadband Technology Association and Renee Gordon from the FirstNet Authority board.
Additional speakers include Sheriff Mark Lamb of Pinal County, Arizona, and Jeff Johnson of the Western Fire Chiefs Association.
FirstNet was launched in 2018 as a public safety broadband network, awarded to AT&T through a federal contract process.
The network provides priority and preemption services to first responders across all bands.
FirstNet reports that more than 7 million connections are currently active, serving over 30,000 agencies.
The Public Safety Broadband Technology Association (PSBTA), which supports the summit, focuses on the wider FirstNet ecosystem.
The association works with agencies, developers, and hardware providers to align infrastructure with public safety needs.
The summit will be held at the Westin Indianapolis Downtown Hotel and Conference Center, located at 241 West Washington Street.
FirstNet has invited public safety leaders, emergency response agencies, and media to attend.
