FireDome has announced that Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, former U.S. Fire Administrator, has joined its advisory board.
As reported by FireDome, Dr. Moore-Merrell brings more than 30 years of experience in fire service and public safety.
She has held leadership roles across federal agencies and international organizations and has worked on policy development, community risk assessment and data-informed emergency response strategies.
Dr. Moore-Merrell said: “I’m deeply impressed with FireDome’s innovative approach and the remarkable progress the team has achieved thus far.”
She added: “I believe U.S. communities, policy makers, property owners, utility officials, and fire chiefs will recognize FireDome as a transformative technology that can significantly enhance wildfire protection.”
According to FireDome, its wildfire defense system draws inspiration from Israel’s Iron Dome.
The technology uses a mechanical launcher to deploy capsules containing fire retardant to create a protective perimeter.
A second layer of defense, powered by AI computer vision, identifies and extinguishes embers that pass the initial barrier.
The system is designed to operate without relying on local utilities and includes redundancies to maintain functionality in remote areas.
Dr. Moore-Merrell joins a team of advisors with experience in public safety, defense, and climate risk analysis.
FireDome said its advisory board includes Seth Schalet, CEO of Santa Clara County FireSafe Council, Brig. Gen. (Ret) Pinhas Yungman, Gabriel Gross, and Lior Libman.
Yungman was involved in the development of the Iron Dome and David’s Sling air defense systems in Israel.
Gross has experience in climate-related insurance, and Libman has a background in launching technology startups.
FireDome is currently working with early users to test and refine its wildfire defense technology.
The system is designed to function autonomously and integrate with existing wildfire alert networks.
According to FireDome, its system enables coordinated responses and aims to offer long-term protection by maintaining effectiveness for weeks.
