FireDome, an Israeli startup, has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding to advance its AI-powered wildfire prevention system.
The funding round was led by Third Sphere and Gravity Climate, with contributions from Atooro Fund, Caesar Fund, and Vertex Ventures.
This brings the company’s total funding to $4.5 million.
FireDome employs AI technology inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, launching fire-retardant capsules to establish protective perimeters around properties.
The company’s system includes two layers of protection.
Capsules containing fire retardant and water are launched to create perimeters around properties.
Additionally, cameras installed on-site detect and address spot fires caused by drifting embers, which Benjamini describes as a major hazard.
The AI-powered system can identify and respond to fires in their earliest stages, minimizing the risk of spread.
FireDome aims to select an environmentally friendly, EPA-approved extinguishing agent for its capsules.
Initial deployment is expected to provide protection over a quarter-mile radius, with future plans to expand coverage to up to a mile.
The system targets areas prone to wildfires, including California, Oregon, Texas, and parts of Canada, Australia, and Europe.
FireDome plans to relocate much of its operations to the United States to better serve its target market.
The company aims to release a minimum viable product by late 2025 or early 2026.
Over the next 12 months, FireDome will engage with potential customers and design partners while continuing to refine its technology under the guidance of CTO Adi Pomerantz.
