Fire & Safety Services celebrates six decades

Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation business, has announced that its authorized dealer for New Jersey, Fire & Safety Services, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this June 2024, as reported by Pierce Manufacturing.

This milestone is marked by community-focused initiatives, highlighting the company’s dedication to supporting fire service members.

The celebration includes the 2024 Road Rally, featuring Pierce fire apparatus, which will tour throughout the dealership’s region this summer.

The first event took place in southern New Jersey at Burlington Township Fire District No. 1, showcasing Pierce pumpers, rescues, and aerials.

Future stops will be posted on Fire & Safety Services’ website and social media platforms in the coming weeks.

A history of service and dedication

Fire & Safety Services was founded in 1964 by Walter Runyon with a customer-centric philosophy, offering 24-hour services and firefighting equipment.

The company began representing Pierce in 1977 for northern New Jersey and expanded statewide in 1984 under Bill Russell’s leadership.

Bill Russell focused on customer needs, providing best-in-class service and sales, and fostering a culture of development among employees.

Today, the company employs nearly 70 people, with many having been with the company for over 15 years.

David Russell, President of Fire & Safety Services, said: “Our success is rooted in the trust of firefighters and the dedication of our incredible employees who always strive to do the right thing for our customers and their communities.”

Road Rally 2024 and community engagement

The 2024 Road Rally exemplifies Fire & Safety Services’ evolution, moving from static apparatus shows to interactive events.

David Russell stated: “The decision to conduct a 2024 Road Rally aligns with our mission to focus on our customers’ specific needs, ensuring we deliver the most relevant and effective solutions.”

Fire & Safety Services supports fire service members through various initiatives, including supporting organizations like the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Burn Foundation, and sponsoring educational programs.

Russell added: “We are very proud of our 60 years as it is the foundation for our development for the years to come.”

Looking ahead

As the emergency vehicle market evolves, Fire & Safety Services aims to continue meeting customer needs through training, fleet enhancements, and expanding its physical footprint.

David Russell emphasized their commitment: “We will do whatever is needed to continue to meet those needs, whether through training, fleet enhancements, or continued growth.”
