As reported by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), Fire-Rescue International (FRI) 2024 will take place in Dallas, TX.
The conference will feature three general sessions, each sponsored by one of the IAFC’s corporate partners.
These sessions will include speakers addressing topics relevant to fire and emergency services.
The opening session on August 14, sponsored by FirstNet built with AT&T, will feature U.S. Fire Administrator Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell and a panel of three past IAFC presidents: Chiefs John Butler, Donna Black, and Ken Stuebing.
Dr. Moore-Merrell will provide an overview of the current state of the fire service from a U.S. Government perspective.
Following this, she will lead the panel in discussing key issues that fire chiefs need to prepare for, including data management, funding and research, regulatory compliance, and human resource management.
The session will aim to answer questions such as: “What does success look like for a modernized fire service?” and “How do fire service leaders balance the needs of an increasingly interconnected public with limited resources?”
The second session on August 15, sponsored by First Due, will feature Steven Wirth, an attorney and veteran EMT who specializes in leadership, compliance, and EMS law.
Wirth will address leadership strategies and compliance issues within the fire service.
His experience as both an EMT and a legal professional will provide valuable insights into the challenges of navigating legal and regulatory landscapes in fire and EMS services.
This session is expected to equip attendees with knowledge to better handle compliance and leadership challenges.
