Rogers recognized for contributions to fire safety advocacy

The Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (FEMA) has announced Greg Rogers as the recipient of the 2024 Fire Safety Advocate Award.

Rogers has dedicated over 26 years to fire safety and prevention and is recognized for his leadership in community risk reduction initiatives.

Highlighting portable fire extinguishers’ role in safety and sustainability

Rogers, who currently chairs the Fire and Life Safety Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), has emphasized the dual benefits of portable fire extinguishers for life safety and environmental preservation.

In a feature article for iCHIEFS magazine and an IAFC blog post, he described how these extinguishers reduce both the impact of fires and their carbon footprint.

Contributions to licensing and risk reduction

Rogers has worked closely with FEMA’s Government Relations Committee on licensing standards for pre-engineered industrial fire extinguishing systems in Washington State.

He also spearheaded several innovative fire safety programs during his career, including virtual reality-based public fire safety training.

His commitment to community risk reduction initiatives has garnered respect across the fire safety community.
