A fire broke out in Renoir Tower II, one of the tallest buildings in Argentina, located in Buenos Aires’ Puerto Madero neighborhood.
More than 100 people were evacuated from the luxury residential high-rise on Tuesday.
Emergency services treated at least 32 individuals for smoke inhalation, providing oxygen on-site.
Three people required hospital care and were transported to Argerich Hospital, according to Alberto Crescenti, head of Buenos Aires’ Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAME).
The fire originated in a mechanical room on the 11th floor that housed air conditioning units, Buenos Aires City Police Fire Squad Chief Diego Coria told reporters.
“This space has ceiling vents, which allowed the fire to spread to other floors,” Coria said.
The blaze extended as high as the 15th floor before firefighters gained control of the situation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
More than 30 emergency units, including firefighters and police, responded to the incident.
Broken glass was reported falling from the windows as residents evacuated.
Christian Benitez, a firefighter at the scene, told AFP news agency that all residents were out of danger.
Crescenti stated that the evacuation was carried out quickly, minimizing risk to those inside the building.
Ornella Gril, a 30-year-old resident, described hearing the fire alarm and immediately heading downstairs.
Mariano Pavone, a former professional footballer who lives in the tower, told Noticias Argentinas: “I saw smoke and went down with my son and my dog.
“Luckily nothing happened to my flat. I’m anxious for my neighbors. Luckily it was just a scare.”
