The global fixed fire and gas detection systems market is expected to grow from $7.84 billion in 2026 to $10.86 billion by 2031, according to new research from MarketsandMarkets.
The forecast represents a compound annual growth rate of 6.7% over the period, with demand being supported by higher investment in industrial safety, tighter regulatory requirements and the modernization of safety infrastructure across high-risk sectors.
The report points to continued growth across oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, power generation, manufacturing, mining and marine applications, where operators are seeking faster hazard detection, greater reliability and improved compliance with evolving safety standards.
MarketsandMarkets said the expansion of LNG infrastructure, hydrogen production and storage facilities, carbon capture and storage projects and other critical infrastructure is further increasing demand for advanced fixed fire and gas detection systems.
However, the analyst firm noted that high installation and integration costs, particularly in brownfield industrial facilities, as well as ongoing calibration and maintenance requirements, continue to present barriers to adoption.
By product, fire detection systems are projected to account for the largest market share during the forecast period. The segment includes flame, smoke, heat and video fire detection technologies used in hazardous industrial environments.
The fixed gas detection segment is expected to record the highest CAGR, at 8.5%, while electrochemical detection is forecast to account for the largest technology share, at 29.8% in 2026.
Acoustic detection technology, including ultrasonic gas leak detection, is expected to register the highest growth during the forecast period. The technology can identify pressurized gas leaks by detecting ultrasonic sound waves generated during a leak event, without relying on gas accumulation around a sensor.
MarketsandMarkets said this makes acoustic detection well-suited to open and ventilated industrial environments, including offshore platforms, LNG terminals, hydrogen production facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, compressor stations and gas processing facilities.
North America is expected to account for the largest regional share of the market in 2026, at 31.6%, supported by investment in industrial safety, critical infrastructure protection and high-risk process industries.
Leading companies identified in the report include Honeywell, Siemens, MSA Safety, Dräger, Emerson, ABB, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Carrier Global and Bosch Building Technologies.
