Fike Corporation has announced that its Fike Fire Watch system has received global FM approval.
FM Global now recommends this fire detection solution in its datasheet 10-3 Hot Work Management guidelines.
This portable system is designed to offer temporary fire detection in compliance with NFPA requirements, providing safety measures during hot work, building construction, or when fire protection systems are impaired.
The Fike Fire Watch system includes an automated monitoring feature to replace manual fire watch efforts, such as hiring contractors or employees to perform these tasks.
The system offers an integrated solution to detect fire risks in temporary or high-risk settings, delivering continuous protection for up to 18.7 hours.
Fike Fire Watch is equipped with one or two Fike IR3 HD flame detectors, an HD camera, and smoke detection capabilities through Fike Video Analytics.
When a fire is detected, the system activates its alarm and can send notifications via SMS, push notifications, or email.
This automated system is designed to integrate with existing building fire alarm panels or third-party equipment.
According to Fike, this solution can replace manual monitoring efforts, saving costs and ensuring consistent fire risk management across various applications.
Kevin Montgomery, Fike’s Manager of Fire Protection Product Management, highlighted the cost-saving potential of the system.
He said: “Fike Fire Watch fills a very important need in the industry of providing cost-effective temporary fire detection.
“Investing in just one Fike Fire Watch System will easily pay for itself after just a few uses.”
Montgomery emphasized the system’s reliability in providing necessary fire detection for workplaces, construction sites, or facilities where fire protection systems are temporarily disabled or need supplemental coverage.
The Fike Fire Watch system is designed for use in a range of applications, such as post-hot work monitoring or construction projects where fire hazards are temporarily increased.
Additionally, it can be deployed for protecting high-value equipment or during fire system outages, ensuring temporary monitoring without needing personnel.
By offering a portable and automated solution, Fike Fire Watch simplifies fire safety processes and complies with key safety standards.
Its approval by FM Global strengthens its position as a reliable option for industries in need of temporary fire risk management.
