The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) promoted fire officers and swore in new chaplains on Thursday 24 July 2025, at a ceremony at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.
FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker shared: “It’s been almost a year since I started as fire commissioner, and it’s been an amazing year—one made great by days like today.
“I’ve learned so much from all of you—about the kind of leaders you are in our great city. Fearless leaders, loyal, protective and smart.
“You are the reason I love this job and why the Department is so great. You are the reason I know our city is safe. There is one unifying factor among all of you: It is a call to service and a desire to do good.
“So today, I congratulate you on your next steps and I challenge you to carry your passion to the next generation.”
At the promotion ceremony, members of fire operations were promoted to the following ranks: Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Supervising Fire Marshal – Level 2, Lieutenant, Marine Assistant Engineer and Marine Wiper.
Additionally, two new FDNY Chaplains were sworn in. The newly promoted members will be assigned to units across New York City.
