The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and the FDNY Foundation have released the official trailer and poster for their latest production, “An Extraordinary Measure.”
According to the FDNY, the film, created by FDNY Pro Films, highlights the origins and evolution of EMS paramedicine in New York City.
It focuses on the pilot program launched in 1974 in the Bronx, which offered advanced life support for the first time.
Over the subsequent five decades, paramedics’ operational scope expanded, adapting to challenges such as infectious diseases, mass casualty events, and terrorism.
Advances in equipment and medical procedures have also transformed EMS capabilities.
Proceeds from the film will support the FDNY Foundation’s programs and initiatives.
The premiere for “An Extraordinary Measure” is set to take place on Tuesday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m. at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.
FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, Chief of Department John Esposito, and Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields will be present.
