Detroit Local Emergency Planning Committee has invited the community to the Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kemeny Recreation Center, located at 2260 S. Fort Street in District 6, Detroit.
The event is presented by the Detroit Local Emergency Planning Committee and Detroit City Council Member Gabriela Santiago-Romero.
Attendees will receive vital emergency preparedness, health, and safety information, as reported by Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Detroit.
The fair will feature demonstrations and information sessions from Detroit Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the Detroit Police Department, the Detroit Fire Department, and private partners including DTE, Marathon, and PVS.
Activities will include CPR/AED demonstrations, blood pressure checks, and Mobile Fire Safety House tours.
The event will offer several demonstrations aimed at educating the community on emergency responses.
These include Stop the Bleed demonstrations, information on children’s gun safety, and family emergency planning.
Residents can also sign up for emergency notifications from the City of Detroit and Marathon.
For children, the fair promises a variety of entertainment options.
There will be a Bouncy House, face painting, balloons, and a playscape.
Both kids and adults can enjoy free ice cream and refreshments throughout the event.
The City of Detroit expressed gratitude to the participating agencies and sponsors.
