DuPont wins 2024 R&D 100 Awards for innovative materials

DuPont has received two R&D 100 Awards for 2024 in the Mechanical/Materials category.

The R&D 100 Awards, hosted by R&D World Magazine, honor the 100 most innovative technologies of the previous year.

DuPont’s recognition stems from its advancements in adhesives for electric vehicles and fire-resistant building materials.

Alexa Dembek, DuPont’s Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer, stated: “These awards are proof positive that our strategic investments in areas such as advanced mobility and sustainable and productive construction are delivering growth.”

BETAFORCE™ elastic structural adhesive earns recognition

DuPont’s BETAFORCE™ elastic structural adhesive, developed for electric vehicle (EV) battery assembly, is one of the award-winning products.

This adhesive provides durability and crashworthiness, protecting battery cells during vehicle operation and charging.

BETAFORCE™ is notable for its environmental benefits, containing 30% renewable materials and curing at room temperature, avoiding high-energy ovens.

Its flame resistance and hydrophobic properties further enhance safety and performance, especially in electric vehicle battery applications.

Tyvek® Trifecta™ A2 Breather Membrane highlights fire safety advancements

The second awarded product, Tyvek® Trifecta™ A2 Breather Membrane, was recognized for its fire-resistant properties.

Designed for use in high-rise and high-risk buildings, it meets the fire safety standards outlined in the United Kingdom’s building regulations.

The membrane allows moisture to escape while providing fire protection, making it suitable for buildings over 18 meters tall.

The combination of Tyvek® Trifecta™ and AirGuard® A2 FR Tape offers a comprehensive fire-retardant solution that is lighter and more UV resistant than other options, improving ease of installation.

The R&D 100 Awards celebrate global technological innovation

The R&D 100 Awards, in their 62nd year, continue to be a major recognition of technological innovation, often referred to as the “Oscars of Innovation.” This year’s awards attracted entries from 16 countries and regions, with a panel of 56 industry professionals judging the nominees.

The awards acknowledge the importance of advancements in technology and highlight companies like DuPont for their ongoing contributions to industries such as automotive and construction, ensuring continued progress and safety improvements.
