Domino’s Pizza and NFPA team up for fire safety awareness during Fire Prevention Week 2024

October 4, 2024

Domino’s and NFPA promote fire safety across the U.S.

As reported by Domino’s Pizza, the world’s largest pizza company, Domino’s has partnered with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for the 17th consecutive year to promote fire safety across the U.S. during Fire Prevention Week, which will take place from October 6 to 12, 2024.

This year’s campaign, titled “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you,” encourages proper installation and maintenance of smoke alarms.

Domino’s will distribute fire safety flyers on pizza boxes, providing key safety tips for ensuring smoke alarms function correctly.

Select customers may even receive their pizza deliveries alongside a fire engine, with firefighters checking home smoke alarms.

If the alarms are functional, the pizza is free. If not, firefighters will either replace batteries or install working alarms.

Collaborating with local fire departments for safety initiatives

Participating Domino’s stores across the country will collaborate with local fire departments to deliver important fire safety messages.

Jenny Fouracre, senior director of communications at Domino’s, said: “Every year, Domino’s stores look forward to partnering with their local fire departments and NFPA to spread important fire safety messages in communities nationwide.”

This program, now in its 17th year, has been consistently successful.

The initiative aims to ensure that smoke alarms are properly installed and maintained in homes, as they play a critical role in reducing the risk of fatalities in house fires.

NFPA emphasizes the importance of smoke alarms

The NFPA has long advocated for smoke alarm safety, with Lorraine Carli, vice president of Outreach and Advocacy at NFPA, emphasizing the impact of this initiative.

Carli said: “Smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by more than half.

“This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign drives home just how important it is to install, test, and maintain smoke alarms to make sure they’re working properly.”

The collaboration between Domino’s and the NFPA aims to reach as many households as possible, potentially saving lives by ensuring proper fire safety practices are followed.

Fire safety tips promoted during Fire Prevention Week

During Fire Prevention Week, Domino’s and NFPA are promoting essential fire safety practices.

These include installing smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of the home, including basements.

Testing smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button is also recommended.

Additionally, homeowners are urged to replace smoke alarms every 10 years or when they fail to respond during testing.

More information on these tips can be found at the official Fire Prevention Week website, fpw.org.
