Darley has shared its latest company developments and product updates in the March–April 2025 edition of its Inside Darley report.
The company confirmed that it has developed several new products, including air primers, an electric-powered pump designed for the US Coast Guard, a 40-horsepower Vanguard portable pump, a range of low-cost extrication tools, and a new virtual reality firefighting training system.
According to the report, the VR system is designed to be user-friendly and can be integrated into fire departments with minimal setup.
These announcements were made in advance of the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) held in Indianapolis from April 10 to 12, where Darley participated as an exhibitor at booth 3657.
Darley has named Bruce Ireland as the new Director of North American Fire Pump Sales.
The company stated that Ireland has been well received by customers and brings a professional approach to the role.
The newsletter also includes an update on the company’s pump training program, now called the Darley Pump Academy.
The next free training session will take place from May 6 to 8 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Darley confirmed that these sessions are held twice a year, in May and October.
Darley addressed recent developments in federal funding for firefighting equipment, specifically a $20 million grant program for slip-on tanker units.
While the application period for this grant has closed, the company encouraged grant recipients to contact Darley directly or visit their website to discuss unit construction.
Darley stated that it produces a large volume of skid and fast attack units for customers across North America.
The company noted that future grant availability may be affected by changes in federal priorities and recommended continued engagement with legislators.
Darley announced that it will host the 19th annual Illinois Fire Service Home Day on June 5 at the Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Center in Glenview, Illinois.
For its defense customers, Darley provided information on its TAGRS (Tactical Aviation Ground Refueling System), currently in production under a major contract with the US Marine Corps.
The company reported that the TAGRS can refuel an F-35 fighter jet in under five minutes and has attracted interest from the Air Force and Army in addition to the Marine Corps.
James Long, President of Darley’s Defense Division and Head of the Equipment Division, recently visited Washington, DC, for Hill Day as part of the company’s continued engagement with federal stakeholders.
