Darley appoints retired US Army General Joseph Votel to Board of Directors

Darley has appointed retired US Army General Joseph L. Votel to its Board of Directors, adding senior military leadership and national security expertise to the company’s governance team.

The company, which provides defense, fire, and emergency services equipment, said Votel’s appointment supports its work with first responders, military organizations, and government customers.

Votel is a retired four-star officer and former commander of US Central Command, where he oversaw US and coalition military operations across the Middle East, the Levant, and Central and South Asia. Over a 39-year military career, he commanded special operations and conventional forces at multiple levels, with deployments including Panama, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Before leading US Central Command, Votel served as commander of US Special Operations Command and Joint Special Operations Command. Darley said his experience leading complex military operations will help inform the company’s long-term strategy and customer support across defense, fire, and emergency response markets.

Following his retirement from military service, Votel served as president and CEO of Business Executives for National Security. He also serves on a range of corporate, nonprofit, and advisory boards, including AeroVironment, Minnesota Wire, DC Capital Partners, NtelSec, Insight Partners, and the Middle East Institute. He is the Distinguished Chair of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Paul C. Darley, chairman and CEO of Darley, said the company was honored to welcome Votel to the board, citing his service in JSOC, SOCOM, and CENTCOM and his understanding of the needs of warfighters.

Votel said he was excited to join Darley and contribute to a company serving first responders and the military.

Darley said the appointment reflects its continued focus on strengthening its Board of Directors with experienced leaders who can provide strategic oversight as the company develops products and services for the defense, fire, and emergency services sectors.
