CRR Week 2025 to highlight economic incentives in community risk reduction

December 9, 2024

CRR Week set for January 2025

Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Week will take place from January 20 to January 26, 2025, aligning with Martin Luther King Day, which is a National Day of Service.

As reported by CRR Week organizers, the annual event aims to raise awareness about Community Risk Reduction (CRR) within fire services and demonstrates how any department can implement CRR strategies to enhance community safety.

The focus for 2025 is economic incentives, one of the “Five E’s” of intervention strategies. These strategies also include education, engineering, enforcement, and emergency response.

The Five E’s of CRR intervention

Each year, CRR Week highlights one of the Five E’s, providing fire departments with practical resources and tools.

This year, participants will have access to an updated CRR Toolkit featuring resources specific to economic incentives. The toolkit includes risk assessments, customizable fire safety materials, a home safety visit app, and educational courses.

Departments are encouraged to tailor their campaigns for the week based on local needs, with options to focus on a different E each day or structure their week according to available resources.

Free resources and training opportunities

The CRR Week website offers a range of free resources, including videos, podcasts, and an online forum to support fire service professionals.

Vision 20/20, the organization behind CRR Week, also provides innovative training materials through its CRR Academy, where users can sign up for a free account to access courses.

Departments and organizations can further engage by utilizing the Participant Patch Wall or customizing the downloadable Model Proclamation to raise awareness in their communities.

Locally driven CRR campaigns

CRR Week is designed to be flexible, allowing departments to address unique challenges within their communities.

Vision 20/20 encourages fire service professionals to become CRR Champions by pledging to integrate CRR strategies into their service delivery. The goal is to promote data-driven processes to identify risks and prioritize resources effectively.
