As reported by Critical Response Group (CRG), Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has announced a partnership with CRG to implement advanced critical incident mapping technology across the District’s 573 schools.
M-DCPS, the third-largest school district in the United States, aims to enhance emergency response by utilizing accurate location data essential for managing incidents effectively.
This technology addresses the need for precise, up-to-date building information, which is crucial for reducing delays and confusion during emergencies.
CRG, known for its expertise in critical incident mapping, draws on best practices from U.S. special operations forces.
The company has developed advanced methodologies to create precise floor maps for every school in the Miami-Dade district.
These maps are intended to improve the efficiency of emergency response efforts by ensuring clear communication between school personnel and first responders, regardless of the nature of the emergency.
Dr. Guillermo Muñoz of M-DCPS highlighted the importance of the initiative: “Most schools have multiple security layers in place, but the first layer often overlooked is having accurate emergency maps readily available to first responders.
CRG’s mapping technology ensures that police, paramedics, and EMTs can navigate our school campuses with precision, significantly reducing response times during emergencies.”
CRG’s technology integrates seamlessly with existing security platforms, including mobile apps, 911 center systems, and public safety software used by first responders.
This compatibility allows all responders to access and communicate using the same map, enhancing situational awareness and decision-making during emergencies.
The goal is to facilitate cohesive communication and collaboration among responders.
Mike Rodgers, CEO and co-founder of CRG, expressed the company’s commitment to improving school safety: “We are honored to support Miami-Dade County Public Schools in bolstering their security infrastructure.
“Our mission is to equip schools and first responders with the tools they need to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency situation.
“By leveraging advanced mapping technology, we are setting a new standard for situational awareness and operational efficiency during critical incidents.”
CRG has already mapped over 14,000 schools nationwide, and the process for M-DCPS is currently underway.
The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2024-25 school year, ensuring that all schools in the district will benefit from this innovative technology.
The critical incident mapping technology introduced by CRG is designed to work with a variety of safety and security systems already in place within the school district.
This includes mobile applications, public safety software, and systems used by 911 centers and PSAPs.
By providing a unified view of the school premises, the technology aids in quick and accurate decision-making during emergencies.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the overall safety and preparedness of schools in Miami-Dade County.
