Oshkosh delivers new Striker ARFF vehicles to Costa Rica’s DGAC

As reported by Oshkosh Airport Products, Costa Rica’s Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) has received four new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles.

The delivery includes three Striker 6×6 ARFF vehicles and one Striker 4×4 ARFF vehicle.

These will bolster emergency response operations at Juan Santamaría Airport, Costa Rica’s busiest international airport, serving over 1.7 million tourists annually.

Longstanding partnership supports ARFF upgrade

DGAC Costa Rica has collaborated with Oshkosh Airport Products for more than 20 years.

The new vehicles reflect the continuation of this partnership and a focus on advanced firefighting capabilities.

Robert Colon, Oshkosh’s associate manager of international sales, stated: “Our trucks have consistently delivered outstanding performance at Costa Rican airports for decades.

“In partnership with our regional dealer, we’re honored to continue supporting DGAC.”

ARFF vehicles tailored for challenging conditions

Juan Santamaría Airport’s elevated location and uneven terrain influenced the selection of these ARFF vehicles.

Oshkosh’s TAK-4® Independent Suspension, included in all units, ensures smooth operation in difficult environments.

Colon added: “DGAC’s experience in responding to critical emergencies has underscored the importance of equipping their fleet with top-tier ARFF vehicles that offer enhanced mobility, speed, visibility, and safety features.”

Features enhance safety and environmental standards

Two Striker 6×6 vehicles include Oshkosh’s Snozzle® High Reach Extendable Turret, capable of 500/1,000 gpm output with a piercing tip.

All units are powered by Tier 4F-compliant Scania DC16 engines and equipped with Eco EFP™ foam measurement systems, aligning with Costa Rica’s environmental goals.

Additionally, each vehicle features 360-degree backup cameras to enhance operational safety.
