Chile’s National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) has opened applications for forest fire brigade members for the 2026-2027 wildfire season, with more than 3,000 positions available across the country.
The roles are being offered in 13 regions: Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Aysén, and Magallanes. Applicants can find regional application forms, job profiles, and details of the selection process on CONAF’s official website.
Jaime Campos, Chile’s Minister of Agriculture, said CONAF forest firefighters “defend what cannot be replaced,” including lives, nature, forests, and natural resources.
“That is the work of our brigades, which is why we are making this call for applications from people who feel this commitment to protecting our communities and the rural world in different regions of the country,” Campos said. “There are more than 3,000 jobs available in various areas of forest fire control across different regions of our country.”
CONAF Executive Director Aída Baldini encouraged interested candidates to register using the forms for the positions and regions they wish to apply for. She said the process is designed to be user-friendly and that all relevant information is available through the institution’s website.
“Working in forest fire control requires a spirit of public service, nature conservation, and dedication to others,” Baldini said.
Applicants must meet several requirements, including having health compatible with the assigned duties, no criminal record, and completed basic education. The recruitment process includes six stages: the call for applications, submission of background information, verification of requirements, physical, technical, and psychometric evaluations, selection, and hiring. Applications will remain open until all vacancies are filled.
Selected brigade members will receive specialized training in fire behavior, tools and equipment, safety procedures, operational protocols, and practical field exercises led by instructors with national and international experience.
