The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) has announced the deployment of advanced fire investigation trailers to improve support for local partners and enhance fire risk awareness.
Chris Brunette, Fire and Life Safety Section Chief at DFPC, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with statewide risk reduction efforts, particularly through the Fire Safe Colorado program.
Brunette credited the passage of SB 23-013, sponsored by Senators Cutter and Genal, and recommendation 21-04 from the Colorado Fire Commission for enabling this deployment.
The trailers, positioned on either side of the continental divide, aim to ensure comprehensive statewide support.
The trailers will be available to DFPC teams for fire investigations and can also be requested by local jurisdictions as needed, providing a flexible resource for tackling fire-related incidents.
In addition to investigation trailers, four fire safety education trailers have been introduced, with one stationed in each quadrant of Colorado.
These units will be managed by Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Specialists and will serve as tools for educating communities about fire safety.
Local jurisdictions can request these trailers for use in schools and community events, promoting fire risk awareness.
Brunette emphasized the importance of collaboration in implementing this initiative, stating: “We are deeply thankful to Senators Cutter and Genal for their sponsorship and the Colorado Fire Commission for their valuable recommendations.”
The deployment of these trailers is part of the Fire Safe Colorado initiative, a program focused on empowering communities with the knowledge and tools needed to reduce fire risks.
By integrating both investigation and educational efforts, this program aims to enhance community resilience and address fire safety comprehensively.
DFPC’s approach demonstrates a commitment to actively engaging communities and supporting local jurisdictions in fire prevention and response efforts.
The trailers were produced by JHB Group, a firefighter-owned company based near Chicago.
