CMCB student wins award in national literary competition

Dâmaris Raquel Lima Souza Messias, a 3rd year high school student at the Military Fire Department of the State of Ceará Military College, won 1st place in the 2nd Literary Contest held in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB), with the theme “80 years of victories of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force: Heroes always remembered.”

The award ceremony was held during the official celebrations of the date and was attended by civil and military authorities.

The certificate presentation was led by the Commander of the 10th Military Region, Major General Cristiano Pinho Sampaio and by the General Commander of the Military Fire Department of Ceará, Colonel General Commander Cláudio Barreto.

In addition to the certificate, the Messias received a tablet, an official FEB mug and books about the history of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force.

Academic prominence and commitment to historical memory

Dâmaris joined CMCB in 2014, still in the 1st year of Elementary School I, through a public exam. Since then, she has stood out in several educational initiatives. In 2024, she won a silver medal at the National Brazilian History Olympiad (ONHB), an achievement that earned her a scientific initiation scholarship granted by CNPq.

In the same year, she also won 3rd place in the SEFIN Essay Contest, addressing the challenges in combating tax evasion within the scope of the Nota Fortaleza Program.

Dâmaris Raquel Lima Souza Messias said: “Participating in this literary competition was a deeply enriching experience. I sought to remember and highlight the symbolic aspects of such a remarkable period in our history, writing responsibly and sensitively.”

Dâmaris also made a point of thanking her family, teachers and the CMCB faculty, especially in the areas of Languages ​​and Human Sciences.

FEB heritage

8 May marks 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe, a historic date that symbolizes the surrender of the Axis powers and the triumph of democracy.

For Brazil, it is a moment of reverence for the bravery of the more than 25,000 soldiers of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, who served in the European Theater of Operations, especially in Italy. Of these, 337 were from Ceará.

In honor of this legacy, the Command of the 10th Military Region held a special ceremony and launched the II Literary Contest with the aim of stimulating critical reflection and the recovery of historical memory among young students in the public education system.
