Peerless FireConnect® is a remote monitoring platform intended to track the status of fire pumps and related equipment.
It functions through a gateway controller that sends data to the cloud, with an application delivering key information to smart devices.
The technology works with different makes of fire pumps, collecting data points such as power usage, pressures, and flow rates.
According to Peerless Pump’s FireConnect Director, Travis Montembault: “FireConnect – in the spirit of Peerless innovation we have developed the worlds most robust and First and Only FM Approved pump remote monitoring solution.” He describes it as an add-on for fire pump systems, enabling remote checks to reduce unnecessary dispatches.
Users can review alerts, examine historical trends, and schedule maintenance based on early indicators.
FireConnect® keeps a record of performance metrics, highlighting details for compliance with regular testing requirements.
System administrators can customise text or email alerts so that multiple stakeholders are notified.
Common issues—such as controller malfunctions, water supply fluctuations, and diesel fuel levels—can be identified before they escalate.
The platform is also designed to remain operational when direct site access is limited.
Building owners and facility managers can use FireConnect® to monitor power consumption, track jockey pump activity, and record weekly or monthly churn tests.
Historical data aids in managing older installations, and Montembault notes that the tool aims to address personnel shortages: “We know that pumps are not being tested at the routine intervals they should be and are not being replaced quickly either.” By automatically logging events, it may assist teams who oversee multiple facilities, including those spread across different regions.
During an emergency, the system displays real-time performance data, such as pressure and flow, potentially giving on-site or remote personnel an indication of conditions.
This function can be relevant to fire incident command, offering information on pump output as sprinkler heads activate.
Users can see whether a pump controller has been returned to ‘Auto Mode’ after servicing, which may lower the risk of accidental oversight.
Peerless Pump plans to extend FireConnect® to cover other fire safety components, including sprinkler risers and hydrants.
Recent upgrades have allowed the monitoring of live diesel fuel levels, rather than standard alarm notifications alone.
The development team regularly evaluates user feedback, fine-tuning the product to fit evolving site requirements.
The FireConnect® Gateway Controller collects data from sensors and transmits it to the Peerless FireConnect® cloud.
Authorised individuals can view information through the FireConnect® App on their phones or tablets.
This arrangement supports continuous visibility, regardless of staffing challenges.
