The 38th Fire Run of the Ceará Fire Department, part of the 61st Prevention Week, was held in Integrated Safety Area 5 (AIS 5) in Brazil.
With a total of 2,250 registrations, the race attracted 1,842 athletes who participated in the 5km and 10km races, including people with disabilities in male and female categories.
There were 30 people with disabilities, whose efforts were recognized with trophies for the first three places in the male and female categories. The race also offered cash prizes, an additional incentive for the runners performance.
The 38th Corrida do Fogo route, with distances of 5 and 10 thousand meters, was a loop circuit, starting and finishing at the Parreão neighborhood unit.
The route included important roads such as Avenida Borges de Melo, Rua Jorge Dumar, Avenida Eduardo Girão and the roundabout on Avenida Aguanambi, returning to the Public Security Integration Complex (Cisp) via Rua Professor Guilhon, culminating at the headquarters of the 7th Company of the 1st Battalion of Military Firefighters.
This edition of the Race implemented several improvements; hydration points were added, totaling three for the 5km route and seven for the 10km route, a direct response to requests from runners in previous editions.
According to the Ceará Fire Department, a memorable moment was the athletes’ crossing through the Borges de Melo Avenue tunnel, which was set to music and lighting effects, creating a unique atmosphere.
The final stretch of the race provided a unique experience: the participants entered the Public Security Integration Complex (CISP), running through the General Command Headquarters of the Military Police, the General Police Precinct and the Intelligence Secretariat, before crossing the finish line.
According to Colonel Holdayne do Nascimento Pereira, General Coordinator of the 38th Corrida do Fogo: “The race had a record number of participants and was a success in terms of the number of participants and the execution on the day of the race.”
He also highlighted the important collection of food for the Ceará Sem Fome Program.
In a statement, the Ceará Fire Department shared: “We would like to thank all institutional partners, such as the City of Fortaleza, through the Municipal Department of Citizen Security, the Municipal Traffic and Citizenship Authority (AMC) and the Municipal Guard of Fortaleza, as well as the Military Police of Ceará, through the State Highway Police (PRE). Our recognition extends to the entire team that tirelessly contributed to the 38th Fire Run.”
The Fire Race is one of the highlights of the 61st Prevention Week, an annual initiative by the Fire Department, which takes place around July 2, Brazilian Firefighter Day.
This year, the program was held between June 29 and July 7, with diverse events: the “Bombeiros de Portas Abertas”, which attracted more than five thousand visitors to the Central Headquarters; the opening of the vacation operation; the “3rd Pedal do Fogo”, in addition to a graduation on July 2 and finally, the traditional 38th edition of the Corrida do Fogo.
It was a broad, plural and innovative program, covering the different areas of activity of the Military Fire Department of the State of Ceará (CBMCE).
The Ceará Sem Fome Program, an initiative in the fight against poverty in Brazil, had a significant participation in the 37th Fire Department Fire Run.
As a result of the kit exchanges, 1,380 kilos of food and R$4,812.39 in cash via Pix were collected, giving around two tons of food, all of which were donated to the program.
The proceeds will be directed to the program’s Central Unit, which currently serves more than 100 accredited entities.
