The Military Fire Department of the State of Ceará (CBMCE) has received seven new vehicles for its Search and Rescue Battalion (BBS).
The vehicles were delivered during a ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the Headquarters of the General Command of the CBMCE, located at the Integrated Center for Public Security (CISP) in Fortaleza.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Alzir Chaves, the executive secretary of Intelligence and Social Defense of the Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS), and Cláudio Barreto, the colonel and general commander of the CBMCE.
The Search and Rescue Battalion is a specialized unit focusing on various rescue operations, including diving and training.
Their efforts cover operations in seas, rivers, lakes, dams, and areas with murky waters, following their motto: “Saving other people’s lives and riches”.
The new vehicles are expected to significantly enhance the monitoring and prevention capabilities of the BBS.
Colonel Cláudio Barreto stated: “The vehicles will be allocated to the CBMCE units in Fortaleza, Maracanaú, Caucaia, Sobral, and Juazeiro do Norte.
“In addition, we are also delivering new water rescue equipment.
“This investment will assist our professionals, who work 24 hours a day, in prevention and ensuring the safety of our population”.
The investment for the new vehicles and equipment amounts to R$2,193,814.00, funded by the Public Security Fund.
Three of the seven vehicles will be assigned to the Capital’s Search and Rescue Battalion, while the remaining four will be distributed among units in other municipalities.
The executive secretary of the SSPDS, Alzir Chaves, emphasized the importance of investing in the Fire Department to enhance public safety in Ceará.
Chaves remarked: “It is rewarding to see the institution better equipped and in a position to provide an even better service to our society.
“The Government of Ceará has invested heavily in Public Safety and we will continue to seek more investments to be at an even more relevant level”.
The new vehicles and equipment are part of an ongoing effort by the Ceará government to improve public safety and emergency response capabilities.
The continuous investments reflect a commitment to supporting the vital work of the fire department and other public safety institutions.
