On Friday 7 March, in celebration of International Women’s Day, the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG) held an activity at the Military Fire Academy (ABM) to expand the female voices in the organization.
The event was attended by the General Commander of CBMMG, Colonel Jordana de Oliveira Filgueiras Daldegan, who highlighted that the day was an excellent opportunity to provide a space for exchange and joint growth considering what he called: “The diversity of demands and subjects, the need for reflection and discussion with different opinions”.
The topics of the discussion groups were Rights, Logistics and Operational Activity, with the debates focusing on women’s work in the Military Fire Department.
The discussion rooms addressed issues related to the need for standardization to ensure equity, challenges in adapting equipment and infrastructure to meet the needs of female military firefighters, and other issues of institutional interest.
The initiative sought to maintain the constant and gradual evolution of female participation in the corporation with short, medium and long-term strategies.
Military firefighters were able to participate in the activities to enrich the discussions, in addition to understanding the different situations from the woman’s perspective.
