CBMMG and SES promote new aircraft for training

The Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG) and the State Health Department (SES) promoted an initiative at Montes Claros in the last week of June; the mobilization of a new aircraft for training and qualification at the Northern Base of Advanced Air Life Support (SAAV).

This aircraft is the Arcanjo 12, a modern AW 119 (Koala) helicopter manufactured by Leonardo in Philadelphia.

Features of the aircraft

This multi-mission model is capable of performing a variety of tasks, including pre-hospital care; inter-hospital care, transport of human tissues and organs and transport of healthcare teams involved in organ harvesting.

The vehicle is equipped with a rescue winch, capable of rescuing stranded people and contains all the medical equipment required to become an airborne intensive care unit.

The aircraft has been designed to offer greater safety during transportation by allowing the co-pilot to be on board for all trips, without having to remove him or her to board patients.

Acquired by the State Department of Health (SES), Arcanjo 12 is operated by the Arcanjo Squadron of the CBMMG, with a mixed team composed of military firefighters and SAMU professionals, including doctors and nurses.

Arcanjo 12 is part of a major investment made by the Government of Minas Gerais, the result of an effort that will promote more technology, greater speed, comfort and safety in favor of aeromedical care and rescue operations.
