The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) inaugurated on Monday 16 December a new operational unit in the municipality of Paty do Alferes, expanding the corporation’s presence in the interior of the state.

The initiative aims to reinforce the capacity to respond to emergencies and expands the coverage of services to the population of the region.

The unit is the 118th operational organization of the CBMERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department) throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro and the 12th installed in the region.

“100% Firefighter” project

The new fire station is part of the “100% Firefighter” project, considered innovative in the country, which aims to guarantee the presence of at least one operational unit of military firefighters in all 92 municipalities of Rio de Janeiro.

The detachment, identified as DBM 4/29, was made possible through a partnership between the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Fire Department and the Municipality of Paty do Alferes.

This model of institutional cooperation allowed for the strategic implementation of the unit, aligned with local needs.

Design features of the facility

The facilities were designed to fully meet the operational demands of the military firefighters, offering adequate working conditions and readiness.

The structure will allow for efficient response to emergency incidents, directly benefiting the population of the municipality and the surrounding area.

The inauguration of the Paty do Alferes fire station represents a concrete step forward in the policy of expanding and strengthening the Fire Department in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

With this unit, operational coverage will be expanded in the Central-Southern Fluminense region, reducing emergency response times and ensuring greater safety for the population.

This is another step in the 100% Firefighter project. – stated the Secretary of State for Civil Defense and Commander-General of the CBMERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Fire Department), Colonel Tarciso Salles.

The inauguration of the fire station is also part of the modernization process of the CBMERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department), which has been promoting the largest renewal and expansion of its fleet and equipment in its history.

Modern materials, vehicles and equipment geared towards rescue and firefighting activities are being provided to the new unit.

Previously, the 100% Firefighter project had already inaugurated two fire stations: one in São Francisco de Itabapoana and another in Farol de São Thomé.
