The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) held on Thursday 25 September, the graduation ceremony of the 1st Class of the Soldier Training Course (CFSD/2025).
The event celebrated the completion of a journey of preparation and dedication, which qualified 144 new military firefighters in the qualifications of Combatant, Vehicle Driver and Operator, Artificer and Bugler.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Civil Defense and Commander-General of CBMERJ, Colonel Tarciso Salles, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Commander-General.
Colonel Sarmento; the Undersecretary of State for Civil Defense, Colonel Lauro Botto; the Director-General of Education and Training, Colonel Rodrigo Azevedo; and the Commander of the Center for Training and Improvement of Soldiers (CFAP), Lieutenant Colonel André Freire.
The course was coordinated by CFAP and delivered across 16 training centers distributed across clusters throughout the state.
The collaborative effort ensured the training of each student, who now joins the ranks of the force to fulfill the noble mission of saving lives.
During the ceremony, the graduates received their soldier’s insignia from their godparents, took the oath and saluted the National Flag. The ceremony also included a religious blessing conducted by CBMERJ chaplains.
Colonel Tarciso Salles, Secretary of State for Civil Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the CBMERJ explained: “More than just a graduation, this is the beginning of a journey of honor and dedication.
“Each soldier trained here carries with them the motto that guides our institution: Save others’ lives, save riches.
“Rio de Janeiro society can trust that, as of today, 144 new military firefighters are ready to serve with courage and selflessness.”
