CBMERJ add Artemis, the Bloodhound, to its ranks

The Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department (CBMERJ) Kennel has acquired Artemis, a Bloodhound dog, with the intention of strengthening its search, rescue and salvage team.

Artemis, has been recognized by the CBMERJ for her olfactory ability and scent tracking skills.

It has been announced that she will assist with locating missing persons, especially in natural environments such as woodlands and forests.

Now, the CBMERJ’s operational search dog squad includes three Bloodhounds, which respond to highly complex incidents throughout Rio de Janeiro.

Artemis will be handled by Lieutenant Oliveira, a professional with extensive experience in canine search and rescue.

The CBMERJ stands out nationally for holding the highest certification level for the Bloodhound breed in scent-based search operations.

This recognition demonstrates the corporation’s excellence in training and missions with search dogs.
