The Bryan Fire Department in Texas and Destination Bryan has shared that they are hosting the 2025 Texas Firefighter Summer Games.
Nearly 1,000 firefighters from all over Texas and even some neighboring states compete in different events like archery, basketball and darts.
Texas Firefighter Summer Games President Eric Harr told KBTX, “We bring firefighters from as far north as Wichita Falls and Amarillo, all the way down to Laredo and as far West as El Paso… and everyone in between.
Harr has been the president for the past 10 years and said the games are about bringing firefighters together.
He explained: “The camaraderie, the gathering that we all get to share in something besides firefighting and what goes with it- it gives us a chance to just relieve stress, hang out, create the brother and sisterhood.”
Bryan Fire Department and Destination Bryan helped plan this year’s events.
Morgan Key with Destination Bryan explained: “Back in 2022, Bryan Fire Department approached Destination Bryan [because] they really wanted to host the Texas Summer Firefighter Games here in Bryan. [To] show everything that we have to offer and so, it was a no-brainer for Destination Bryan to partner up with the city.”
The games took two years to plan and Bryan Firefighter Paramedic Adrian Sanchez helped lead the charge.
Sanchez added: “[I’m] happy to see everyone come together, show them what Bryan’s all about- especially being a local. This is the city I grew up [in] and I love, and I just want to share that love to everyone else.”
It’s the first time since 2008 that the City of Bryan has hosted the games, something organizers said they would be happy to do again in the future.
