Kooyman joins Blackline Safety as CFO with global experience

Blackline Safety has appointed Robin Kooyman as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective September 9, 2024.

The announcement was made by Blackline Safety on August 9, 2024.

Kooyman brings with her 15 years of global experience in finance, capital markets, and strategic leadership, having held senior roles across Canada, the U.S., and the UK.

Before joining Blackline Safety, Kooyman served as CFO at Charger Ready Properties, where she established key functions such as accounting, finance, IT, and legal.

Her previous roles include CFO at Certarus, where she led the company to double its adjusted EBITDA and was involved in its acquisition by Superior Plus for over $1 billion in 2023.

Kooyman’s strategic leadership and capital markets expertise

In her new role at Blackline Safety, Kooyman is expected to leverage her extensive experience in capital markets and strategic leadership.

During her time as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations at Brookfield Renewable in London, she played a crucial role in enhancing stock market visibility and supporting over C$1.0 billion equity issuance.

Kooyman also brings experience from her tenure as Head of Global Clients – Europe at RBC Capital Markets, and Director, Institutional Equities at TD Securities.

Her background in global equity sales and client management is anticipated to be an asset as Blackline Safety enters its next phase of growth.

CEO welcomes Kooyman to Blackline Safety

Blackline Safety’s CEO and Chair, Cody Slater, expressed confidence in Kooyman’s ability to contribute to the company’s financial strategy.

Slater said: “I am delighted to welcome Robin to Blackline Safety as Chief Financial Officer.

“Robin brings the skills and experience required as we enter our next phase of expansion.”

Slater also took the opportunity to thank Elisa Khuong, who served as Interim CFO, for her contributions during the transition.

Khuong will resume her role as Vice President, Accounting & Corporate Controller upon Kooyman’s appointment.

Kooyman’s commitment to sustainability and mentorship

In addition to her financial expertise, Kooyman is recognized for her leadership in sustainability strategies and strong ESG credentials.

She is a CFA Charterholder and holds an MBA from the London School of Business.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kooyman volunteers on the Board of Wood’s Homes Foundation and serves on the Limited Partner Advisory Committee for The 51 (Fund II).

She also mentors women through Women in Capital Markets (VersaFi).
