Blackline Safety secures $1.5 million contract with California utility provider

As reported by Blackline Safety, the company has signed a new contract valued at over $1.5 million to supply G7c devices and services to a major utility provider in California.

This deal is a collaboration between Blackline Safety and one of its U.S. channel partners.

The utility provider will roll out 1,000 G7c lone worker devices to protect their frontline workers.

The G7c devices feature SOS latch, fall and no motion detection, and real-time connectivity, providing a critical lifeline in emergencies.

Recent expansion in utility sector

Blackline Safety’s latest announcement follows a series of recent deals in the utility industry.

Last month, the company expanded into the Australian water and wastewater industry and made deals with half the water and wastewater companies in the UK, as well as another major U.S. utility provider.

Utility industry workers face multiple hazards, including gas exposures, confined spaces, falls, adverse weather, customer confrontations, and working alone in areas with limited cellular coverage.

The sector also faces challenges in protecting workers from rising violence against uniformed employees, particularly meter readers.

Device features and monitoring services

Sean Stinson, Blackline Safety’s President and Chief Growth Officer, highlighted the advantages of their devices: “Our devices are particularly well suited to the utility industry.

“The G7 is highly customizable with everything from multi-gas detection to two-way voice and lone worker features.

“Companies don’t need multiple vendors and expensive infrastructure to keep their people safe. Blackline’s all-in-one solutions have them covered.”

The California utility provider has also subscribed to monitoring services by Blackline’s Safety Operations Center (SOC).

The SOC is available 24/7 and can respond to emergencies in seconds.

Stinson added: “Our SOC monitoring services are an extra layer of protection for those who work alone.

“Paired with our devices, we’re setting the standard for the safest, most effective lone worker solution on the market.”
