The Billy Moon Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to helping families impacted by organ donation, will hold its inaugural gala event, Casino Night, at The Heritage Club in Bethpage, New York, on April 2, 2025.
The event, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., is organized by the foundation’s president, Kristina Moon, in memory of her late husband, Billy Moon, an FDNY firefighter who was passionate about organ donation and whose own donation saved five lives.
The gala will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, small plates, cigars, live entertainment, casino tables, and raffles, offering attendees an evening of activities while contributing to the foundation’s mission.
According to the Billy Moon Foundation, funds raised during the event will be allocated to help alleviate financial stressors for families affected by organ donation, covering essential costs like lodging, food, and transportation.
At 7:15 p.m., a special program will recognize individuals and organizations who have shown dedication to promoting organ donation awareness and support.
Among the honorees is John Flanagan, Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs at Northwell Health and board chair for Donate Life NY, who has spent his career advocating for organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Dr. David Prezant, Chief Medical Officer for FDNY, will also be honored for his contributions in supporting firefighters who require medical interventions, including organ transplants.
The New York Islanders and the Islanders Children’s Foundation will join the event, celebrating their longstanding support for first responder causes.
In a statement, Kristina Moon emphasized the event’s significance: “This event is a significant milestone as we honor Billy’s legacy and rally the community in support of donor families.”
Individuals and organizations can also choose from sponsorship levels ranging from $500 to $5,000, with each level offering distinct benefits, including event tickets, logo placements, and social media recognition.
