Bank of America has announced a $250,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to support wildfire relief and recovery efforts across the Pacific Northwest and neighboring mountain states.
The funding will help provide emergency shelter, meals, supplies and other critical assistance to families, businesses and communities affected by fires in Washington, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and Utah, including areas in and around Spokane, Washington.
Lauren Murray, Spokane and Boise market president at Bank of America, said: “The loss and destruction caused by these wildfires is heartbreaking. Recovery will take time, and the impacts of these fires will be felt long after the flames are extinguished. Our thoughts are with the brave first responders and everyone affected as communities begin the process of rebuilding and healing.”
Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross, said Bank of America’s support would help the organization respond quickly to families affected by disasters. She added that, as wildfires become more frequent and intense, the Red Cross continues to rely on donors to deliver “hope and comfort” to communities in need.
Bank of America is also matching employee donations dollar for dollar to nonprofits providing disaster relief. The company says it will support employees affected by the fires through its Employee Assistance Program and that all of its financial centers in the Spokane market remain open during the wildfire response.
