On the 12 March, the Military Fire Department of Minas Gerais, represented by the General Commander Colonel Jordana de Oliveira Filgueiras Daldegan, was honored at the presentation of the Guardião Mineiro Trophy, at an event held by the State Government, through the Military Office of the Governor, in Belo Horizonte.
On the occasion, eight military firefighters received the Guardiões Mineiros Trophy in recognition of their actions in a complex incident in March last year, when a tanker truck loaded with fuel overturned, sending flames onto the road and into some houses in the area.
The Military Fure Department of Minas Gerais recognized how firefighters acted quickly and efficiently to control the flames from the vehicle and prevent the fire from reaching more homes.
The military also worked to evacuate residents from homes that were affected, in addition to assisting in assisting victims. This was a long incident that lasted more than 24 hours and the teams were committed to mitigating the damage and eliminating panic.
The award highlighted strategic operations that stood out for their planning, innovation and effectiveness in facing public safety challenges.
With the presence of Governor Romeu Zema and the commanders of the Security Forces, the ceremony celebrated the work of agents who demonstrated excellence in the performance of their duties.
Governor Romeu Zema shared: “For the second time, I am pleased and happy to participate in the presentation of this award.
“We are recognizing those who performed above average, who performed acts of bravery, who committed themselves and managed to bring improvements to the structure.”
